The Seven Sacraments

Outward signs instituted by Christ to give grace

The Church celebrates seven sacraments — sacred rites through which we encounter God's grace at each stage of our Christian journey. St. Oliver Plunkett's Parish is here to accompany you through each one.

Baptism
Sacrament of Initiation

Baptism

The first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Through Baptism we are born anew in water and the Holy Spirit, welcomed into the Body of Christ, and freed from original sin.

Contact the Parish Office for Baptism preparation.

The Eucharist
Sacrament of Initiation

Eucharist

Both sacrifice and meal, the Eucharist is the source and summit of Catholic life. We believe in the real presence of Jesus Christ — Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity — in the consecrated bread and wine.

Reconciliation
Sacrament of Healing

Reconciliation

Also called Penance and Confession, this sacrament involves conversion, the confession of sins, and celebration of God's merciful forgiveness. It restores and deepens our relationship with God and the Church.

Saturday 6:30 pm — Sacristy of the Day Chapel

Confirmation
Sacrament of Initiation

Confirmation

The sacrament of mature Christian commitment. It deepens the gifts of the Holy Spirit received at Baptism, sealing our faith and empowering us to live and witness the Gospel with courage.

Contact the Parish Office for preparation arrangements.

Marriage
Sacrament of Vocation

Marriage

A public sign of the total and faithful self-giving between husband and wife. The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant of love that reflects Christ's own love for the Church.

Please contact us at least 6 months in advance.

Holy Orders
Sacrament of Vocation

Holy Orders

Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, men are ordained as priests and permanent deacons to serve God and His people. The ordained minister acts in the person of Christ, Head of the Church.

Anointing of the Sick
Sacrament of Healing

Anointing of the Sick

A ritual of healing for those experiencing serious illness, old age, or any grave infirmity — physical, mental, or spiritual. This sacrament unites our suffering with Christ's and brings God's healing grace.

Contact the Parish Office at any hour in urgent cases.
